How Much Does SEO Cost for Plumbing Companies in 2026?

By Francis Marc UyOctober 2, 20266 min read

Quick answer: Most small businesses pay somewhere between $500 and $2,000 a month for ongoing SEO, and a single-location plumbing company doing real local SEO usually lands toward the middle or upper part of that range. The price depends on how many service areas you cover, how much content gets written and whether profile, review and listing work is included. A plumbing SEO company that cannot tell you exactly what happens each month is the bigger risk than the price itself.

Ask five plumbing SEO companies what they charge and you will get five numbers that are hard to compare. One quotes $400, another $1,800, a third wants a setup fee first. They are rarely selling the same thing. This post breaks down what plumbing SEO actually costs in 2026, what moves the price, and how to tell a fair offer from one that is cheap for a reason.

I publish my own prices, so I will be upfront about them near the end. If you are new to the topic, my guide to local SEO for plumbers explains what the work involves. The industry numbers come first, because you should be able to judge any offer, mine included, against the wider market.

What SEO Costs in 2026: The Industry Range

The most useful recent benchmark is the SE Ranking agency pricing survey, which collected responses from 260 agencies, most of them serving small or local businesses. It found that 64% of agencies charge under $1,000 a month, with $500 to $1,000 the most common monthly band. In the US and Canada, about 22% of agencies charged more than $2,000 a month.

That survey covers SEO broadly, not plumbing specifically, so treat it as a frame rather than a quote. In practice, plumbing work sits in the middle of that range or a bit above it. The trade is competitive in most metro areas, and a serious local program for plumbers involves more than a few profile updates: service pages, listing cleanup, review management and steady profile activity all take real hours.

What Changes the Price of a Plumbing SEO Company

Two quotes that look far apart usually differ in scope, not markup.

  • Number of locations and service areas. A one-shop plumber serving six towns needs far less work than a company with three shops and separate profiles for each.
  • How much content gets written. One blog post a month and four new service pages a quarter are very different workloads. Ask for the count, not the word “content.”
  • Profile and review management. Monthly profile posts, photo uploads, Q&A monitoring and review replies are ongoing labor. Some packages include them, many quietly do not.
  • Listing cleanup. A company with years of old phone numbers and addresses across directories needs more upfront cleanup than a new business.
  • Local competition. Ranking a plumber in a crowded metro takes more sustained work than ranking one in a small town with four competitors.

When you compare quotes, line these up side by side. A $700 package with real monthly content and profile work can be better value than a $1,500 package that is mostly reporting.

Red Flags That an Offer Is Too Cheap to Be Real

Low prices are not automatically bad. Some providers are small and efficient. The problem is when the price only works because the work is not being done. These are the warning signs I would watch for.

  • A guaranteed ranking or a guaranteed number of calls. No one outside Google controls the results. A guarantee is either a sales line or a promise to rank you for a phrase nobody searches.
  • No list of monthly deliverables. If the proposal says “ongoing optimization” and nothing more, you have no way to check whether anything happened.
  • A long lock-in before you have seen any work. A short minimum term is normal, since setup takes time. A 12-month contract before you have seen a single report is a different thing.
  • Reviews offered as part of the package. Bought or incentivized reviews break Google’s policies and can get your profile restricted. That is not a service, it is a liability.
  • They want ownership of your profile or website. You should always own your Google Business Profile, domain and website. Anyone asking otherwise is making it hard for you to leave.

A Realistic Monthly Budget for a Plumbing Company

For a single-location plumbing company that wants real local SEO, meaning profile management, service pages, listing work and review handling, a budget of roughly $1,000 to $2,000 a month is a sensible starting assumption based on the survey data above. A company that only needs light profile upkeep can spend less. A multi-location company in a large metro will likely spend more, since each location needs its own profile and its own pages.

Treat that as a planning range, not a promise of what any amount will produce. The return depends on your market, your starting point and how well your phones convert the calls that come in. A good provider will tell you what they plan to do with your budget before you sign, and show you what they did after each month.

Is SEO dead for plumbers?

This question comes up more since AI answers started appearing in search. The short answer is no. People still search for plumbers when a pipe bursts, and the map results are still where most of those calls go. What has changed is that AI tools now pull from the same public information, your profile, reviews and pages, so the work also feeds answer engine optimization. The budget is buying visibility in more places, not less.

What My Plans Cost, and What Is Included

I publish my prices so you can compare them against everything above. Every plan includes Google Business Profile management for one location, a monthly report and the full local SEO and AI search build. The difference is mostly volume.

  • Basic, $1,099 a month. One blog post, four profile posts, one service page optimized and three new citations a month, plus 25 tracked keywords and a quarterly AI visibility check.
  • Advanced, $1,499 a month. Two blog posts, six profile posts, two service pages and five new citations a month, 50 tracked keywords, a monthly AI visibility check and a quarterly strategy call.
  • Premium, $1,999 a month. Four blog posts, eight profile posts, two optimized service pages plus one new page and ten citations a month, 100 tracked keywords and a monthly strategy call.

Additional locations are $350 to set up plus $300 a month each. Plans run a 3-month minimum, then month to month. My first five clients get 30% off their first three months in exchange for permission to use their results as a case study. Plumbing SEO Cost: FAQ

How much does plumber SEO cost per month?

Most small businesses pay between $500 and $2,000 a month for ongoing SEO, and plumbing companies doing real local SEO tend to land in the middle or upper part of that range. The number depends on locations, content volume and whether profile and review work is included.

What’s the best hyper-local SEO approach for plumbers?

Focus on the towns and neighborhoods your trucks actually reach: a tightly defined service area on your Google Business Profile, a page for each high-value service that names the areas you cover, and reviews that mention those areas naturally. Broad, statewide targeting usually spreads the effort too thin.

How long should I commit before judging whether SEO is working?

Profile fixes can show changes within weeks, while broader visibility across your service area usually takes several months. Judge progress on clear monthly reports of work done and how your visibility is trending, not on a single ranking.
