How Much Does SEO Cost for Home Remodeling Companies in 2026?

By Francis Marc UyOctober 15, 20267 min read

Quick answer: Most SEO providers charge between $500 and $2,000 a month, and a home remodeling SEO company doing real local work for one location usually sits in the middle or upper part of that range. Remodeling quotes run higher than a basic package when you sell several project lines across a wide area. The better test than price is whether the work could plausibly pay for itself in one or two extra projects a year.

Quotes for remodeling SEO are hard to compare. One home remodeling SEO company asks $700 a month, another wants $2,400 plus a setup fee, and a third pitches pay-per-lead. They are rarely selling the same thing, and the cheapest is often the thinnest.

This post covers what SEO costs in 2026, the main ways providers charge, what pushes a remodeler’s quote up, and how to check whether a price makes sense for a business where one job can run well into five figures. I publish my own prices, and I get to them at the end. If you are new to the work, my guide to local SEO for home remodeling companies explains what it involves.

How Much Does SEO Cost in 2026?

The most useful recent benchmark I know of is SE Ranking’s survey of 260 agencies, most of them serving small or local businesses. About 64% charge less than $1,000 a month for a retainer, and 30% charge less than $500. In the US and Canada, 22% of the agencies surveyed charge more than $2,000 a month. Larger shops price higher: over 70% of agencies with 25 or more employees charge retainers above $1,000.

That survey covers SEO in general, not remodeling, so treat it as a frame rather than a quote. Under $500 a month usually buys light profile upkeep and a report. Real local SEO for a remodeler, with pages, a portfolio, listings, profile work and tracking, tends to land between roughly $1,000 and $2,000 a month for one location in a moderately competitive market. A crowded metro or several locations push that higher.

The Ways a Home Remodeling SEO Company Can Charge

A monthly retainer is the most common model. You pay a fixed amount for a defined list of work, usually after a short minimum term. It is predictable, and it only works if the provider tells you exactly what the list is. A one-time project fee is the second model, used for an audit, a profile overhaul or a page rebuild. It suits a business that can carry out the work afterward.

Hourly consulting is third, handy for a second opinion or for training a staff member. Pay-per-lead or pay-per-call is the fourth. It sounds safer, but ask who owns the phone number, the pages and the profile if you leave. Some arrangements leave the provider owning the very assets that were producing your calls.

Whatever the model, Google’s guide to hiring an SEO is clear that nobody can promise a number one ranking. Treat any quote built around a promised position as a warning sign, however low the price.

What Pushes a Remodeler’s Quote Up

Project lines are the first driver. A company selling kitchens, bathrooms, basements and additions has four different sets of searches, pages and competitors. Each needs its own page and its own proof. A single-line specialist costs less to support than a full-service design-build firm.

Service area is the second. A remodeler working a 15-mile radius has one map to win. One crossing two counties has several, and distance from your verified address limits where Google shows you. Competition is the third: ranking for a project line in a metro where several established remodelers already hold the map costs more than doing it in a mid-size market.

Portfolio production is the fourth, and it is the one remodelers underestimate. Good project pages need real photos, a short write-up and the homeowner’s permission. Someone has to gather that material every month, and whoever does it should be in the price. The profile side of the work, including photos and posts, is what Google Business Profile management covers, so check which of the two a quote is really including.

Checking Whether the Price Makes Sense

Start with break-even in projects, not rankings. Say your average job brings in $40,000 with a 25% gross margin, so each project earns you about $10,000 before overhead. At $1,500 a month, a year of SEO costs $18,000, which two extra projects would cover. Your numbers will differ. Use your own average job size and margin, then ask how many extra consultations that implies given how many you close.

Remember the delay. Profile fixes can show up in weeks, but broader gains usually take several months, so judge it over a year. The first three months are mostly setup. A realistic view treats the first quarter as an investment and judges the return from there, using consultation requests rather than only traffic.

Questions to Ask Before You Sign

Ask exactly what is done each month, in writing, and who does it. Ask who owns the website, the Google Business Profile and any tracking numbers if you leave. Ask how they report on calls and consultation requests, not just rankings, and ask for a contract that lets you out after a short minimum term.

Ask how they handle portfolio content, since this is where a remodeling campaign lives or dies. If the answer is stock photos and templated city pages, expect thin results. Ask also what happens if you are slow to send photos, because delays on your side shift the timeline.

What I Charge

My plans are $1,099, $1,499 and $1,999 per month, with a 3-month minimum and then month to month. Early on, I offer a founding discount of 30% off the first three months for businesses that agree to let me write up the results as a case study. The full breakdown of what each plan includes is on the pricing page.

I am Philippines-based and work US business hours, and I say so up front. If you want a figure for your own situation first, the local SEO audit shows what would actually need doing, and you can read more about local SEO services before deciding.

Home Remodeling SEO Cost: FAQ

Is SEO worth it for a home remodeling business?

It can be, because remodeling jobs are large enough that a small number of extra projects covers the cost. It is not instant, and results depend on your market, your close rate and the work done. Run the break-even math with your own job size and margin.

Should I pay a setup fee?

Sometimes a one-time fee covers a real audit or profile rebuild, and that is fair if the deliverables are listed. Be wary of a large setup fee that has no itemized work behind it.

Is it cheaper to hire a freelancer or an agency?

Freelancers often charge less, and a good one can be excellent value. The risk is capacity: remodeling needs steady portfolio and review work, so ask what happens if they get busy or leave.
